Job Purpose
To be responsible for the overall management and day to day running of a CHOICE Ltd home in accordance with Care Quality Commission Essential Standards and current Company policies, ensuring the highest obtainable standard of care and support is provided to all service users within home.
Main Duties
1. Service User
To advise and direct staff to ensure that:
- The physical emotional, spiritual, psychological and educational needs of each service user are properly assessed, monitored and supported.
- Each service user has their own service user guide including an Individual Life Plan that is regularly reviewed.
- Each service user has the opportunity to participate and take an active role in any review of their care plan.
- All service users within the home, in conjunction with the Clinical Team has clear written guidelines on management of their behaviour, which are implemented by the staff team.
- Each service user has regular health and dental hygiene treatment as appropriate, and that those who need medication are regularly reviewed with their G.P. and Consultant Psychiatrist.
- All service users have detailed personal files held within the homes covering all aspects of their individual care.
- All service users have their own contract service agreement with Choice.
2. Staff
- To recruit, select and manage a team of staff in the creation of a stimulating environment designed to help and meet the varying needs of the service users.
- To ensure that the home has an adequate agreed level of staff that meets the requirements of Care Quality Commission (CQC) and level of need of service users.
- To ensure that there is 24 hour cover within the home to include arrangements for annual leave.
- To ensure that staff members follow an Induction Programme, to identify staff training requirements and ensure that all staff participate in ongoing training to meet the needs of the service users.
- To organise regular individual staff support and feedback sessions / staff supervision and annual appraisal.
- To ensure effective communication is maintained by regular informal and minuted formal staff meetings.
3. Administration and Finance
- To ensure that the maintenance of company records, policies and procedures are compiled with as in accordance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
- To adhere to the Health and Safety Procedures and maintain high standards within the home environment and external grounds.
- To maintain all necessary fire precautions and ensure that all staff and service users are aware of regulations and participate in regular fire drills.
- To ensure that all incidents relating to Health and Safety are recorded, with the relevant authorities notified if issues occur.
- To carry out identified Risk Assessments within the home.
- To be overall responsible for the homes residential and day care budget, and make returns to head office as required ensuring a clear record of accounts.
- To ensure that all DSS benefits service users are entitled to are claimed and administered in line with company procedures.
4. Other Management Duties
- To regularly review the Homes Statement of Purpose in meeting the needs of the Service Users.
- To liase as needed with the local Care Quality Commission (CQC) Commission Department and the identified Inspector for the home.
- To co-ordinate the Annual Inspection in conjunction with all homes staff and parents and relatives.
- To attend and contribute to Senior Managers meetings, as well as any other external Company meetings or training days as required.
- To effect good communication by liasing with service users Care Managers, Parents and other professionals.
- To be overall responsible for the homes transport ensuring that it is well maintained, Serviced and cleaned regularly.
- To develop and maintain positive links in the local area of the home to promote a greater understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities in their community.
- To carry out such other tasks as is commensurate with the post which may, from time to time, be required of the Company.
- To carry out any other tasks as required / delegated.
